All You Need to Know about Common RV Repairs

Whether you’re a full-time or part-time RVer, knowing the basics of common repairs is essential for getting the most out of your RV rental from North Atlanta RV Rentals. While some repairs may require an experienced professional, there are plenty of simple ones that you can do yourself. Knowing how to fix these common issues will save you time and money in the long run.

Refrigerator Issues

One of the most common problems with RVs is the refrigerator not cooling properly. This could be caused by either a faulty thermostat or inadequate ventilation. To test your thermostat, adjust it to its coldest setting and then wait 24 hours before checking again. If it still isn’t working, you may need to replace it. To improve ventilation to the cooling coils, simply unplug your refrigerator and use compressed air to blow off any dust buildup that may be blocking airflow.

Water Heater Issues

Another common problem with RVs is water heater malfunctions. If your water heater isn’t producing hot water, first check the propane connection and that all switches are set correctly. If there seem to be no issues with those elements, then it's time to inspect the heating element itself for signs of damage. Look for things like corrosion or rust build-up. If you see any of this, simply clean it up and turn your water heater back on.

Leaks

Leaks can occur in several places, including from the roof and plumbing. To prevent roof leaks from occurring, always inspect your roof periodically for cracks or tears in seals between panels and other parts of the roofing system. If necessary, reseal any openings with appropriate sealants made specifically for RV roofs. Furthermore, plumbing leaks are usually caused by worn-out rubber hoses connecting faucets and showers. So, replacing these hoses with new ones should solve any leaking issue you may have encountered.
